Wanted:  Westchester Writers

THE WRITE STUFF – Honoring  Westchester’s Legends & Legacies

Tutti Bravi Productions, Inc. issues a call for Westchester writers to submit their works about a Westchester person, place or event, to be produced as a theatrical piece by the Company.

Manuscripts of plays, musicals, operas, poetry collections or essays which adhere to the guidelines, should be submitted digitally, no later than April 28, 2017.

Three semi-finalists will be selected from the entries, then interviewed for further insights into the piece, and to discuss a collaborative production process.

Semi-finalists will be awarded an honorarium of $500 each.

The winning selection will be produced by Tutti Bravi Productions in two stages:

1 – As a staged reading in the Fall of 2017;  and

2 - As a full production in 2018.

Guidelines for Entrants

1 – Writer must be a resident of Westchester.

2 – Entries may be in the form of stage plays, operas, musicals, poetry collections or essay collections.

3 – The subject of the piece shall be tied to Westchester in some way:

a.A former or current resident (e.g. Norman Rockwell, Thomas Paine, Madame Walker, etc.)

b.Someone who has created something that is identified with Westchester, or the creation itself (e.g. Walter Lantz – Woody Woodpecker;  Washington Irving – The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, etc.)

c.A Westchester location or building, or a site that no longer exists, that has some significance (e.g. John Jay Homestead, site of Battle of White Plains, etc.)

4 – Entrants require no previous publishing experience.  Anyone who enjoys writing and has an interesting topic that fits the geographical guidelines is eligible.

5 – Submissions need not be completely finished products, but enough of the framework should be fleshed out so that the project can be viewed as a whole.  Further collaborative work will evolve as the piece is being prepared for presentation.
